The presentation of the Molafos CAABŪ Restaurant of the Year 2009 awards used a different format this year when the awards were presented at the 7th Annual "City Meets the Country" CAABŪ Dinner at Steersons Steakhouse in Sydney on 11th June.
Because of the nation wide acceptance and distribution of CAABŪ, and the very effective marketing of the product and the brand by many fine dining restaurants and steakhouses it was decided to award an East Coast Award and a West Coast Award.
The East Coast Award was presented to Steersons Steakhouse, Bridge St, Sydney and Steersons Steakhouse, Lime St, Sydney.
The two Steersons Restaurants together with their "stablemate" Kingsleys Australian Steakhouse in Sydney have been long standing CAABŪ Licensed Restaurants with the brand appearing on their menus since 1999 when it was first introduced into the Sydney market.
In presenting the awards to George Vardis of the Vardis Hospitality Group, the owners of the Steersons Restaurants and Kingsleys Australian Steakhouse, CAABŪ Chief Executive, Phil Morley said "We greatly appreciate our relationship with the Vardis Group and we are very impressed with the way the restaurants in the group present the product and the brand to their customers. We are particularly impressed with the experise of Executive Chef Keith Higginson in developing a variety of dishes using CAABŪ"
The West Coast Award was presented to Hippo Creek African Grill, Hillarys Boat Harbour, Western Australia owned and operated by Gareth Simpson.
Hippo Creek African Grill is a South African themed steakhouse now using CAABŪ exclusively and presenting it to their customers in a variety of imaginative dishes based on traditional South African cuisine.
In making the presentation Phil Morley recognised the linking of the CAABŪ brand with the Hippo Creek brand on the staff uniforms that consisted of black shirts featuring both organisations logos.
